We hope everyone had a restful summer! We are excited to welcome the students back and wanted to provide some information as we get closer to the first day of school.
The first day back will be Thursday August 29 at 8am. All students will have a specific meeting spot so please check the attachment, Meeting Spots. You will receive an e-mail Wednesday August 28th in the afternoon from your child’s homeroom teacher introducing themselves, so you and your child knows who to find in their designated meeting spot, as teachers will have signs with their names on it.
For more detailed information regarding the calendar, supplies, transportation, lunch times and supervision, please visit our Back to School page.
All students will need indoor and outdoor shoes, a backpack, and water bottle for the first day of school.
Supplies for K-6 students are supplied by the school and Grades 7, 8, and 9 have supply lists that you can find on our website link above (scroll down).
For the students who are bussed, routes will not be posted online. Individual stop information will be available to families who have pre-registered for transportation for the 2024-25 school year through My CBE / Powerschool. More bussing information can be found on the CBE transportation Page

Away for the Day Policy – Update
Our school’s Away for the Day policy for cell phones and smartwatches will extend over the lunch hour for our Grade 5-9’s next year. If students bring a cell phone, which they do not need for school, they will be handing it in to their homeroom teacher who will keep it for the day. Students will continue to have access to the classroom and office phones if they need to contact home. Also parents can call the school if needing to get a hold of their child. Personal devices like tablets and laptops can be used with teacher permission and supervision but will need to be powered down and kept in their locker. This is part of our Digital Citizenship Policy here at Griffith Woods as well as the Ministerial Order on personal devices in school. For more information please check out our website: https://griffithwoods.cbe.ab.ca/cell-phone
