Hello Griffith Woods Families,

Today we ended the week with “Everything but a Backpack” day and it was wonderful to see how creative all of our students are and start our day with so much laughter!  Thank you to everyone who participates in these fun spirit days.

We also want to thank everyone who sent in cereal boxes for our challenge.  It is very much appreciated, and we are excited to get our final numbers.

Updates

Traffic Safety and Concerns – New Speed Bumps

We have great news!  We have been concerned about the amount of traffic we have in front of our school and with how fast some cars drive.  Community members have also expressed concern for student safety.  Griffith Woods School has been chosen as a location for a pilot program for two new speed bumps.  This is an effort to improve traffic and pedestrian safety near schools.  The installation will begin in the next few weeks.  Here is the photo of where they will be located: Speed Cushion and Hump Pilot Project, Griffith Woods School

Class List Requests

Thank you to those who submitted educational requests for your child.  We did have many friend requests, but please be aware that we do ask students to give us the name of 5 friends and we do try to place each person with one of the friends that they write down.  A lot of work goes into making class lists and giving students the best possible learning experience.
Course Selections for Grade 7, 8, 9 Next Year

Students going into Grade 7, 8, and 9 will have between May 8, 2026 and May 15, 2026 to select/request complementary courses on Powerschool for the grade they will be in next year.  Students have been given time in their homeroom classes, but if you could look over their choices with them at home that would be great. Please remember that these are requests and there will not be a guarantee as some classes could not have a Teacher to teach it or enough students to make the class viable.

Important Information:

  • Instructions of how to access it and select it on their powerschool account are attached here: MyCBE Student Course Requests
  • Students select 6 different courses and submit.
  • If they select Band then they only select 3 other courses (Band is a full year course) (4 in total with band)
  • On May 15 the portal will close for students/parents.
  • In MyCBE, students will need to look at both page 1 and page 2 as the courses will not all fit on one page.

Volunteer Tea

We would like to invite you to join us for a volunteer tea at the end of the month. Please complete the attached form by May 14 so we can prepare accordingly.
