GW Weekly March 2-6
Hello Griffith Woods Families,
This week at Griffith Woods School, we’ve seen many examples of how learning and growth happen each and every day in our classrooms, hallways, and playground. Growth often takes place in the everyday moments when students keep trying, ask questions, and learn from mistakes. Mistakes truly are proof that we are trying. This week our Girls Volleyball team had two games, and they have shown both determination and growth as they have progressed this season. When students take academic risks, practice a challenging skill, participate in discussions, or reflect on something they would do differently next time, they are strengthening their brains. Each effort, retry, and moment of reflection helps them build confidence and resilience as learners.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s growth.

Weekly Quote
“Mistakes are proof that you are trying.”
How can we grow our brains this week?
- Monday - Try again when something feels hard.
- Tuesday - Learn from an error and talk about what it taught you.
- Wednesday - Ask for help when you need it.
- Thursday - Use the words “not yet” instead of “I can’t.”
- Friday - Share a learning moment where practice helped you improve.
Connection Corner
This week we grow our brains by trying, practicing, and not giving up. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn, and every effort makes us stronger.

Alberta Education Assurance Survey
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a world-class education for Alberta’s children, Alberta Education and Childcare will be conducting our annual survey of grades 4, 7 and 10 students and their parents or guardians. The survey will gather important information about students’ and parents’ school experiences and will help to inform continuous improvement in our education system. The survey will also be sent to all teachers in the province. In some schools, all students in grades 4 and above, and their parents or guardians, will be surveyed.
Parents of grade 7 students will have received an email from the CBE providing them with a unique, single-use access code on behalf of Alberta Education and Childcare that you can use to log in and complete the survey online confidentially.
- Parents or guardians with more than one student in an eligible grade will receive a separate single-use access code for each child.
- Participants can skip questions for any reason and may opt out of the survey at any point.
Grade 4 and 7 students completed the survey in the month of February.
