GW Weekly Sept. 25 | Photo Day, Traffic Safety, Forms Athletics, Snack Shack, Truth & Reconciliation Event

A big thank you to our School Council for organizing the Harvest Festival last Thursday night. It was great to see all the families come out for the Festival and our Open House/Meet the Teacher.

Photo Day

Photo Day is Wednesday September 27. Your child’s class will be called down during the day. A few weeks after their pictures will be available online to order through Lifetouch. Photo retake day is November 1.

Traffic Safety Reminders

Please remember we can not have parents/guardians drop their child in the staff parking lot and in the middle of the road. Please drop off at the side of the road we you can legally do so and have your child use the designated crosswalk if needing to get to the other side. Remember it is illegal and dangerous to U turn on 26th Ave. and comes with a hefty ticket. Please do your part to keep our students and your children safe during drop off and pick up at school. Much appreciated.

Forms

Please complete the ‘Demographic Verification’ forms on your MyCBE by September 30. This is a requirement for all families even if there are no changes.

If your child has a medical condition that the school and staff should know about please fill out the forms below and return to the office as soon as you can.

Students in Grade 6-9 interested in trying out for Athletics must have their Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout form filled out and returned to Mr. Jordan prior to tryouts. These were handed out to students yesterday and must be completed prior to trying out. Mr. Jordan and your child’s homeroom teacher have extra copies if needed.

Athletics

Basketball teams are formed and games will start the first week of October. Please see attached for the CMLSAA Basketball schedule for this season. This is also on the Athletics page. We remind spectators that while at the school watching games, there are no in and out privileges and CBE code of conduct for students still applies. We all wish to enjoy watching our student athletes compete in a respectful and safe environment. We have also come to a decision as a basketball division (Griffith Woods, Bishop Pinkham, AE Cross, Vincent Massey, and West Ridge Schools) that any student wishing to be a spectator at away games must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the game.

Both the boys and girls soccer teams play this week. Schedules will also be posted on the PE Bulletin Board and in Announcements. Cross Country has their last meet this week, Sept 25 at North Glenmore Park

Snack Shack Opening September 25

Our student leaders have been hard at work preparing the Snack Shack to re-open. It is Open from 10:50 – 11:10 Monday – Thursday for students in Grades 5 – 9.
