GW Weekly Sept. 19 | Open House/Meet the Teacher, Harvest Festival, Volunteers, Elder Visit, Forms, Fun Lunch, Athletics
Open House/Meet the Teacher
We will be hosting an Open House on the evening of Thursday September 21 from 5 pm – 7 pm. This will be an opportunity to come in see the school, meet your child’s teachers, and to see their classroom. This is not the time for one on one meetings about your child’s progress as that will come at November’s Parent-Teacher Conferences.
IPP Meetings
Time has been set aside for student Individual Program Plan (IPP) meetings between teachers and parents on Friday September 22, 8-1pm. Teachers will be reaching out to families to discuss possible targets, specific strategies and accommodations that will be documented in your child’s IPP. These meetings can be in-person or online meeting and will be 15 minutes.

Elder Residency with Saa’kokoto
We are lucky to have a year long residency with elder, Randy Bottle. His given Indigenous name is Saa’kokoto and he will be working throughout the year with all students. His focus will be on land based teachings and indigenous ways of knowing, having students connect to the land around us. Next week we will be having assemblies to introduce him to the school and to start our journey together. Orange Shirt Day will be on the Monday and Tuesday of next week as Randy will be with us on both days.
