Bus Plan and Changes

A reminder there is no drop off and pick up before or after school on;

  • 26th Ave. in front of the school
  • Springborough Blvd. between the staff parking lot and 26th Ave. (New Bus Zone)
  • In the Staff Parking Lot

With the changes in bus times we are ensuring we have extra supervision to ensure all students are safe coming to school and on their departure home.

Indoor/Outdoor Shoes

  • All students are expected to remove soiled outdoor footwear when entering the building
  • All students are expected to have Indoor Shoes

This is to keep are floors dry and safe throughout the day, especially as the weather changes.

Spirit Days

We have our first Spirit Day on Thursday October 24.  It is PJ Day! Send your child in some comfy PJ’s.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is overflowing.  Please have your child check it and/or come check in at the main office and take a look.  It is extremely helpful to label your child’s clothing so when we go through it we can return it.  In a couple of weeks we will be collecting the lost and found and donating it to a school with children in need.

CPS Presentations

Calgary Police Services will be coming into our school to present to our Middle School students on a variety of topics.  This week they will be coming into present to all Grade 5-9 students on Cyber Safety.

Holiday Market - All Ages Parented Event

Sign those crafty kids up to be vendors at our Holiday Market, where they can sell crafts, resell goods, or offer fun services like face painting!

It's a great opportunity and a safe place for GW students to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit while supporting each other. Enjoy hot chocolate and holiday treats while the kids are shilling their wares. Deadline for all vendor applications is November 15 at midnight!

Entry is FREE for Vendors ($20 table rental), and all guests granted entry at the door with one non perishable food item per person.

Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success!

Please note: only GW students are eligible to participate, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Help us confirm the event by signing up today!

Hosting Basketball Games - Spectator Expectations at Griffith Woods Sporting/Athletic Events

As parents and spectators, it’s important to remember that our behavior sets the tone for the experience of the athletes, officials, and everyone involved. Here are a few guidelines to ensure a positive environment at our school sporting events:

  • Relieve pressure, don’t increase it.  Let them enjoy their experience without added stress.
  • Cheer for their effort but allow them to grow through their own performance.
  • Respect the judgment of officials and coaches. Their decisions may not always align with your perspective, but it’s important to demonstrate respect for their role and maintain control.
  • Show sportsmanship in all outcomes. Win with humility and lose with dignity. Your attitude in both moments is just as important as the final score.

Please be aware that Griffith Woods School reserves the right to remove any spectator who does not uphold these expectations at our events. An administrator will be present for all games to assist with supervision during the games. Let’s create an environment where our student-athletes can thrive!

Thank you so much for supporting our athletes, coaches and referees throughout the athletic season.
