Please be advised that due to potential school interruptions, we kindly ask that students bring home their shoes and water bottles tomorrow if they will be needed at home.

As of October 6, schools are closed. Transportation is cancelled.  Do not send your child to the bus stop.

The Alberta government has made financial and learning resources available to families. To access funds, eligible parents must create an account online. Registration and verification can be completed online. Families can also access a learning resources toolkit on the government’s website.

If you have any school related questions or concerns during the strike, Ms. Douglas will be available in the office during regular school hours to assist you.  

Healthy Hunger in October 

Healthy Hunger orders for October will be cancelled.  A credit for the amount spent will be on your account.  You are able to get that amount back on your credit card through contacting Healthy Hunger.  If future orders need to be cancelled, it will follow the same process. 

Field Trips in October 

The CBE has cancelled and/or suspended all in-school and off-site activities for the month of October.  While labour action may be resolved sooner, cancelling these activities enables schools to focus first on the resumption of learning after teachers are back in school.  Once labour action has been resolved, discussions will be had on resuming or rescheduling activies and if applicable, financial reimbursement or adjustment.

Terry Fox Run

We surpassed our goal of $3500 and raised over $4000 for the Terry Fox foundation.  Thank you, GW community, for your generosity! 

Middle School Athletics in October

The Calgary Board of Education has determined that any upcoming practices and competitions including tournaments are cancelled between Oct. 6-31 due to labour action set to commence on Monday, Oct. 6. These dates could be extended depending on when labour action is resolved.

CBE Senior Leadership is advising schools that this decision is necessary to allow schools to focus on learning when classes resume. There will also be time required to cancel sites as well as gym rentals, transportation, and to inform referees, volunteers, parents, and students.

Middle School Recognition Awards 

We are continuing last year's tradition of recognizing our amazing Middle School Students.  Each month teachers nominate 1 student per grade, from Grade 5-9, that embodies the trait of the month.  They receive a certificate, prize, and a special shout out!  Each trait follows the acronym Grey Wolves.

  • GRIT - A student with grit has passion and perseverance. Goals are set and followed through. They work really hard to follow through on commitment. SEPT
  • RESPECT - A student who shows respect takes care of themself, others, and the space around them. OCT

Grade 6 Vaccinations 

Tomorrow Grade 6 Vaccinations will be happening in our staffroom.  These vaccinations are only happening for students that have filled forms and handed them in.
