IPP’s Sent Home by Friday October 20

If your child is on an Individualized Personalized Plan (IPP), teachers will be sending it home either by paper copy (if you have not signed authorization for it to be sent electronically) or via e-mail by Friday October 20. Please review, sign, and send to school or e-mail to your child’s Homeroom teacher the Signature Page by no later than Friday October 27.

Remembrance Day Slideshow

We are asking any Griffith Woods families who have military photos of family members they are willing to share to send them to Josh Downey at jbdowney@cbe.ab.ca with the subject "Remembrance Day photos". These will be used in a slideshow during our Remembrance Day assembly. If you sent photos in previous years, there is no need to resend as we'll be adding this year's photos to last year's slideshow.

Athletics

We remind spectators that while at the school watching games, there are no in and out privileges and CBE code of conduct for students still applies. We all wish to enjoy watching our student athletes compete in a respectful and safe environment. All spectators – students or adults – are expected to cheer and support players/coaches/referees/parents/guardians in a positive manner. We have also come to a decision as a basketball division (Griffith Woods, Bishop Pinkham, AE Cross, Vincent Massey, and West Ridge Schools) that any student wishing to be a spectator at away games must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the game.

The Boys Soccer team won the bronze medal last week. Congratulations to all the players and to Mrs. Chorney and Mr. Pidkowa for leading their team to a successful season. The Girls Soccer Team has a big game tonight as they play their final game at Westridge versus Westridge at 4:15pm for the Bronze. Good luck to all the players and to the coaching team of Mrs. Goodman, Mr. Jordan, and Mrs. Burrows!

Basketball teams have a bye week for divisional play. The seniors will be playing exhibition games on Thursday night here at GW versus school’s from outside the division.

Halloween Dance put on by School Council

Friday October 27 4-9pm at Griffith Woods School in the Gym

• K-6 entry begins at 4pm (parent supervision is required for K-Grade 6 Students)
• Grades 7-9 entry begins at 6:30pm

Tickets

• Each guest requires a ticket - students/siblings/parents/guardians $5 per person
• Deadline to purchase is October 20 at 11:30pm. (tickets will not be sold at the door)

• Parent council needs a minimum number of both tickets sold and volunteers registered for this event to move forward. In the case of event cancellation tickets will be refunded via email transfer.

All the money raised will go directly to Griffith Woods School. We will be using the funds to support our Complementary Course Programs in Career and Technology Foundations. Specifically for our younger students to have experiences in the Construction Lab, Foods Room, and in Computer Science. This helps fund activities for our K-6 students in our wonderful spaces and with our fantastic teachers running these programs.
