Ani to Pisi
Last Friday Griffith Woods staff and students participated in creating a Human Spider web outside on the North Field. This was a representation of the Blackfoot Indigenous story of Ani to Pisi. The story of Ani to Pisi has so many connections to social and emotional development for children, moreover, it emphasizes the value of community. We were joined by Elders and Indigenous drummers as well as Mount Royal Students who have supported this work in our building. For more information on the story you can check out this video Ani to Pisi Video.
Food Drive for Veteran’s Food Bank
The grade 8 Community Care students have organized a competition to donate as many non-perishable food items to the Veteran's Food Bank. Every class will receive a box for collecting their donations to see which class can bring in the most (which will win a special prize.)
The competition has started and will end on November 29. Check the link for what can be brought in. Veterans Food Bank Needed Items
Parent-Teacher Conferences
You will be able to book in Parent-Teacher conferences this upcoming Friday at 6pm on your MyCBE account. The conference Manager system will close next Wednesday November 27. Thursday evening (Nov.28) conferences will be In-Person and the Friday morning (Nov.29) conferences will be Online.
- 10 Minute timeslots for Kindergarten, Grade 5-9, Phys.Ed and Music students (this is to accommodate the amount of students so that we can open as many timeslots as possible)
- 15 minute timeslots for Grade 1-4 Students
- Opens for parents on Friday November 22 at 6pm and closes Wednesday November 26 at 6pm on your MyCBE account
- Grade 5-9 students conferences will be with both their Math/Science and Humanities teacher, so only book 1 timeslot.
- It’s important to note that there are enough timeslots for every family. You do not have to book in a conference if you have a clear understanding of how your child is doing and you do not have any concerns.
Interpreters for Parent-Teacher Conferences
Interpreters are now available on demand during conferences. If you require an interpreter, please book a time in the system that works for you and email your child’s teacher to let them know that you would like an interpreter for the conference.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing. Please have your child check it and/or come check in at the main office and take a look. It is extremely helpful to label your child’s clothing so when we go through it we can return it. In a couple of weeks we will be collecting the lost and found and donating it to a school with children in need.
