- Kindergarten has school Thursday Nov.24 and P/T Conferences at the same times as the rest of the school
- Any questions regarding how to book a conference look at the resources here: https://cbe.ab.ca/support/Pages/MyCBE-PowerSchool-School-Conferences.aspx
Indoor and Outdoor Shoes and Dressing for the Weather
Thank you for sending your child with Indoor and Outdoor shoes as we have students take off their outdoor shoes at the door to help keep our school clean and floors dry. Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather as all students go outside daily for recess and lunch recess.
Fees are Now Online
Please note that school fees have now been uploaded into your MyCBE account. Please log on to make the allocated payments.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is getting very full of lost items. Please remind your child to check for their lost and found items. The lost and found will also be on display at the front entrance for Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you wish to come to the school to see if any of your child(ren)'s items are in the lost and found please check in at the Main Office and go take a look. It is very helpful when clothing is labeled.
Athletics
Basketball Playoffs begin this week with all teams playing in semi-finals on Thursday, November 16. The Junior Teams (4:30pm for Jr. Girls and 5:30pm for Jr. Boys) and Senior Boys (7:30pm) will both be playing at Griffith Woods on Thursday, November 16. The Senior Girls will be playing at West Ridge on Thursday at 6:30pm. Good luck to all the teams. Those that win will be playing in the finals at Ernest Manning on Wednesday Nov.22.
We remind spectators that while at the school watching games, there are no in and out privileges and CBE code of conduct for students still applies. We all wish to enjoy watching our student athletes compete in a respectful and safe environment. All spectators – students or adults – are expected to cheer and support players/coaches/referees/parents/guardians/volunteer scorekeepers in a positive manner. We have also come to a decision as a basketball division (Griffith Woods, Bishop Pinkham, AE Cross, Vincent Massey, and West Ridge Schools) that any student wishing to be a spectator at away games must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the game.

Staff Participating in Movember
Mr. McGinitie is leading the Staff at GW in participating in Movember, with the money going to local charities. The donations through CanadaHelps are tax deductible (receipt issued immediately). No pressure to donate but think about all the fresh faces in the building on December 1.
From the CanadaHelps page from Mr. McGinitie:
For my entire teaching career, I have worn a moustache. Usually at this time, men would be starting to fundraise growing a moustache for Movember. This year however, I would like to switch things around by raising money to shave. I also would like to use this as an opportunity to support and highlight local charities that make a difference in the lives of all Calgarians. Between inflation, high costs of housing and food, as well as an ongoing opioid addiction and homelessness epidemic, everyday living for all Calgarians has been affected. Let's see our money spent in the communities where we live and work.
During this campaign, there will be donation benchmarks as follows:
$150 - Mr. Molyneux and Mr, Hyslop grow and shave their moustaches
$1000 - Mr. Pidkowa shaves his beard
$3000 - Mr. McGinitie shaves off his moustache
$4000 - Kearney will shave off his moustache and Finlay his beard
$5000+ Hopefully more follicle'd educators to follow....
