GW Cereal Box Challenge
We are excited that this years Cereal Box Dominoes fundraiser has kicked off. We are hoping that each student can bring in at least two boxes of cereal to donate to the Calgary Foodbank. Every $5.00 donated = 1 box of cereal. Don't forget to indicate what teacher/classroom the donation is for so that can count to their class total for prizes! Donations will be accepted through Canada Helps until May 20.
Parent Educational Transition Request Form
Teachers will be working collaboratively starting in May in order to form balanced classes for next year. They put significant time and effort into lists and gather student voice when creating equitable classes to best support learning for all students. You have an opportunity to give teachers making class lists for next year some valuable insight that would support your child's educational needs. The form link above will be available to complete prior to Friday May 9. You do not need to fill this out if you do not have a request. IPP information does go in here as that document gets passed on each year from teacher to teacher.
The information will be seen by the teachers to provide them with insight from a parent perspective. A request is not a guarantee as there are several factors in creating groupings. We will not take teacher requests for next year as all of our teachers are fantastic, teachers change Grade assignments, and it is very difficult to facilitate. Transition requests that are not entered in that form by Friday May 10 will not be considered. Thank you for your support.
Students Not Returning
Griffith Woods is experiencing an extremely high volume of registrations for the 2025-2026 school year. We have a long waitlist for all of our grades; please let us know if you are moving or leaving Griffith Woods School.
Please inform the Admin E Secretary, Trudie Douglas at tcdouglas@cbe.cab.ca if you are planning to:
- transfer or enroll at another school within the CBE
- Transfer or enroll at a non-CBE school
Students coming back in September 2025 do not need to contact our office. We will move your child into the next appropriate grade.
Complementary Course Requests for next Year’s Grade 8 and 9 Students staring May 5
Current Grade 7 and Grade 8 students will have the opportunity to request complementary courses (options) through Powerschool for next year starting at the end of the month in their. Their teachers will walk them through how to do it and will give them time in class to complete their request. Your MyCBE account will be open for you to see the courses available and to support them in their selections starting Monday May 5 and closing Friday May 16.
It’s important to know that while we do what we can to honour these requests that there are no guarantees as classes could possibly not have a teacher to teach it or enough students to make the class viable. Also students might be placed in courses they have not selected to fill their schedule. All courses complement our core courses, give students a broad understanding of the Career and Technology Foundations program in the CBE, and we are proud to offer them.
