Parent Educational Transition Requests
Teachers will be working collaboratively in May in order to form balanced classes for next year. They put significant time and effort into lists and gather student voice when creating equitable classes to best support learning for all students. Next week you’ll have an opportunity to give teachers making classists for next year some valuable insight that would support your child's educational needs. Forms will be available next week and will need to be completed by Friday May 10. You do not need to fill this out if you do not have a request.
The information will be seen by the teachers to provide them with insight from a parent perspective. A request is not a guarantee as there are several factors in creating groupings. We will not take teacher requests for next year as all of our teachers are fantastic, teachers change Grade assignments, and it is very difficult to facilitate. Transition requests that are not entered in that form by the above date will not be considered. Thank you for your support.
Complementary Course Requests
Current Grade 7 and Grade 8 students will have the opportunity to request complementary courses (options) through Powerschool for next year starting at the end of the month . Your MyCBE account will be open for you to see the courses available and to support them in their selections starting Monday April 29 and closing Friday May 10. It’s important to know that while we do what we can to honour these requests that there are no guarantees as classes could possibly not have a teacher to teach it or enough students to make the class viable. Also students might be placed in courses they have not selected to fill their schedule. All courses complement our core courses, give students a broad understanding of the Career and Technology Foundations program in the CBE, and we are proud to offer them.
Traffic Safety Week April 22-26
Our school council is helping to put on a Traffic Safety Week starting Monday April 22-Friday April 26 to promote traffic and pedestrian safety around our school. There will be booklets for the K-4 students to complete on safety and parent volunteers will be handing out cookies to students and classes that using the Crosswalk.
