Bake Sale on Wednesday
We’re excited to share that students in the Indigenous Studies Club have taken the initiative to plan a Bake Sale to raise funds for a whole school family event with Saa'kokoto in May. The sale will take place at school during the grade 5-9 lunch hour on Wednesday, April 16. If you are interested in contributing to the baked items we will be selling, please send an email to Mrs. Bamford (mkbamford@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Quenell (jiquennell@cbe.ab.ca)
Items will all be priced at $2 and will be individually wrapped with ingredients listed, so please consider sending some money with your child (grades 5-9) to purchase a treat on April 16.

GW Student Well Being Action Team
The Griffith Woods Student Well-being Action Team has assembled a school-wide activity to increase acceptance and cultural awareness within our school. They had classes from K-9 get together with their buddy class and complete a “Cultural Bingo.”
The main purpose of this activity is to connect students with their peers and teach one another about cultures from around the world! This supported our school wide initiative for students to further their understanding of the diversity and wide range of cultures throughout Griffith Woods.
Middle School Awards & K-4 Shout Outs
As part of the Middle Years initiative at Griffith Woods we have been recognizing our fabulous grade 5-9 students. We have taken GREY WOLVES and created a value for each letter that we feel is fitting for our population. Teachers will be choosing 1 student a month in each grade from 5-9 to celebrate.
For the month of April we are looking at students who represent: Visionary - A student who creates positive change that considers the future of our school community.
In K-4 we have ‘Shout Outs’ where students get nominated by there teachers and staff for doing great things in the school. Then on Fridays we draw names and recognize the students selected over the announcements for the whole school to celebrate them.
Students Not Returning
Griffith Woods is experiencing an extremely high volume of registrations for the 2025-26 school year. We have a long waitlist for all of our grades; please let us know if you are moving or leaving Griffith Woods School.
Please inform the Admin E Secretary, Trudie Douglas at tcdouglas@cbe.cab.ca if you are planning to:
- transfer or enroll at another school within the CBE
- Transfer or enroll at a non-CBE school
Students coming back in September 2025 do not need to contact our office. We will move your child into the next appropriate grade.
PAT Schedule for Grade 6 and 9
Alberta Education has released its dates for Provincial exams. All Grade 6 and 9 students complete standardized testing in core subjects. The only exception is in Grade 6 Science this year, in which the province is not having the Grade 6 students participate. This is the first year of the new Grade 6 science curriculum.
The test results do not comprise part of the CBE report card, however individual results are communicated to families.
