Hello Griffith Woods Families,
Healthy habits help set students up for success at school and beyond. As the saying goes, “Healthy habits build strong days.” We encourage students to move more, stay hydrated, get a good night’s sleep, stretch their bodies, and take regular breaks throughout the day. These small choices can make a big difference. Healthy habits support learning, boost focus, and have a positive impact on mood and overall well-being. Thanks for partnering with us to help students build routines that support both their bodies and minds.

Student Lates
A reminder that we expect students to be in their homerooms by 8:00 AM. We do realize that there are circumstances beyond our control that will cause students to be late (ie. School Bus Delays). If you know that your student is going to be late for school, please call the office attendance line and let us know ahead of time.
Students who are late miss out on important classroom announcements and teaching time. When students enter the classroom late, it creates a disruptions which interferes with the learning environment of all students who are prepared and ready to learn. Chronic tardiness is habit forming and can impact a student long term.
A change in your child’s schedule or particular attention to organization is often all that is needed to manage this issue effectively. We would appreciate you working with your student to ensure that they are on time for school. We appreciate the support!
Hats on For Mental Health
Please wear a Hat on May 6th for Mental Health. Hats On! for Mental Health Day is an annual, province-wide initiative in Alberta. This initiative helps schools to encourage students and staff to wear hats to spark conversation, reduce stigma, and promote mental wellness awareness.
Students in Grade 5-9 are also welcome to submit a hat design with something that reflects positive mental health and the winning design will be posted in the May GWS magazine. See Ms. Chorney to get a template. Submissions should be given to Ms. Chorney in Rm. 117 by May 1. Please do not use AI or create unserious designs.
Cereal Box Challenge
Our school is competing against West Ridge School to see who can collect the most cereal boxes to donate to the Calgary Food Bank! The cereal boxes are rolling in! We are asking for 2 boxes per student, and the due date is Friday, May 8. Thank you for your support!
