Parent Educational Transition Request Form

Teachers will be working collaboratively starting in May in order to form balanced classes for next year. They put significant time and effort into lists and gather student voice when creating equitable classes to best support learning for all students. You have an opportunity to give teachers making classists for next year some valuable insight that would support your child's educational needs. The form link will be available to complete prior to Friday May 10.  You do not need to fill this out if you do not have a request.  IPP information does go in here as that document gets passed on each year from teacher to teacher.

The information will be seen by the teachers to provide them with insight from a parent perspective. A request is not a guarantee as there are several factors in creating groupings. We will not take teacher requests for next year as all of our teachers are fantastic, teachers change Grade assignments, and it is very difficult to facilitate.  Transition requests that are not entered in that form by Friday May 10 will not be considered. Thank you for your support.

Complementary Course Requests

Current Grade 7 and Grade 8 students will have the opportunity to request complementary courses (options) through Powerschool for next year starting at the end of the month. Your MyCBE account will be open for you to see the courses available and to support them in their selections starting Monday April 29 and closing Friday May 10.  It’s important to know that while we do what we can to honour these requests that there are no guarantees as classes could possibly not have a teacher to teach it or enough students to make the class viable.  Also students might be placed in courses they have not selected to fill their schedule.  All courses complement our core courses, give students a broad understanding of the Career and Technology Foundations program in the CBE, and we are proud to offer them.

Traffic Safety Week April 22 - 26

Our school council is helping to put on a Traffic Safety Week starting Monday April 22 - Friday April 26 to promote traffic and pedestrian safety around our school.  There will be booklets for the K-4 students to complete on safety and parent volunteers will be handing out cookies to students and classes that using the Crosswalk on Thursday.

Change in Next Year’s Kindergarten

In response to several parent requests, we created a community engagement to change from half day kindergarten to alternating full day kindergarten. A large majority of the responses were for alternating day kindergarten. Based on the response we will try a one year pilot project of alternating full day kindergarten instruction for the 2024 - 2025 learning year.

What that looks like:

  • K students will attend school  twice a week  (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) and scheduled Fridays
  • Fridays (8-12)  be scheduled to insure that instructional hours are matched between both groups
  • Students will be able to take the bus to and from school on their learning days. You must sign up for bussing and pay the relevant fees
  • Students will stay for lunch (lunchroom fees will apply)

Provincial Achievement Testing

Alberta Education has announced that Grade 6 English language arts and literature (ELAL) and mathematics provincial achievement tests will not be administered in the 2023/2024 school year

It is important to note that Science 6 and Social Studies 6 PATs will still be administered for all Grade 6 CBE students in June 2024.

All Grade 9 PATs will be administered in May/June of 2024. Check important dates below to see when they are scheduled.
